Built differently

Most online PDF sites upload your document to their servers. We never do.

Private by architecture

There is no upload endpoint to trust. Your PDF is opened, edited and saved entirely inside the browser tab you are looking at.

No waiting on a queue

No upload, no download, no server queue at busy times. A 40-page merge finishes in about the time it takes to read this sentence.

Free, with no fine print

No account, no watermark on your output, no daily task cap and no “upgrade to continue” after the second file.

Works on everything

Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iPad — anything with a modern browser. Nothing to install and nothing to keep updated.

Common questions

Are my files really not uploaded?

Correct. ZappoPDF is a static website with no file-handling backend. Every tool uses the browser’s own APIs to read your document, and the result is written back to a local download. You can confirm it yourself: open your browser’s network tab, process a file, and watch that nothing is sent. You can even disconnect from the internet once the page has loaded.

Is there a file size limit?

There is no limit we impose. The practical ceiling is your device’s memory — a few hundred megabytes is comfortable on a normal laptop. Very large scanned documents processed at 600 DPI are the one case where you may want to work in batches.

Does it cost anything?

No. There is no paid tier, no trial and no watermark added to your output. Because there are no servers processing your documents, running ZappoPDF costs almost nothing.

Can I use it offline?

Mostly. The page and its processing libraries download once; after that, an individual tool will keep working even if your connection drops. A hard refresh while offline will not load.

How good is the Word and Excel conversion?

Good, with one honest caveat. Zappo re-flows your content rather than photographing it, so Word → PDF keeps headings, bold, lists, tables and pictures as real selectable text, and Excel → PDF sizes columns to their content and repeats header rows. Going the other way recovers your words and tables for editing, but not the original visual design — exact page breaks and heavily designed layouts will shift. For most documents that is exactly what people want; if you need a pixel-perfect clone, keep the original.

Why is there no OCR or password protection?

Because doing either properly still needs software we cannot run in a browser, and offering them would mean uploading your file. We would rather leave a gap than break the one promise the whole site is built on. More on what we deliberately left out.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Brave, on desktop and mobile. Internet Explorer is not supported.
